This was an absolutely fabulous story. Not only was it a fantastic take on Vampires but it was a beautiful romance, and interstign mystery suspense. I think this had something for everyone. If you love vampires or romance this is a must read!! Just when you think it cant get better it twists and WOW what a fabulous story!
I cannot wait for more in this series. Feb 19, D. Nail biter. Couldn't put it down. Circumstances change; people change; and life goes on. Robbie has always worked hard and studied hard, but has no social life. In fact, Robbie is not truly living, he's existing, hiding behind his anonymity, with his music being his only outlet. That changes when he meets Cole. His life with Cole is fraught with passion, but also with danger. Unless Cole can restrain himself, it may be over before it has even gotten a good start. When Robbie meets Cole, he's amazed that a cool guy like him would pay attention to someone as boring as Robbie.
Cole's interest in him makes Robbie rethink his attitude; he finds the confidence to speak up for himself, causing others to see him in a different light. This newfound self-assurance gives Robbie the push he needs to show his true colors. He impresses Cole with his understanding and loyalty which enables them to stick together through obstacles that would normally tear a couple apart. Cole is everything to Robbie and he will do anything to stay by his side. Cole is overwhelmed when he sees Robbie. He's convinced, right away, that this gentle, kind boy is someone he wants to get to know and possibly someone he could love.
Cole sees Robbie for so much more than he sees himself and encourages him to be more self-expressive. Cole hates to lie to Robbie, but fears that the truth, that he's a one hundred and sixty-seven year old vampire in a seventeen-year-old body, may cause him to run screaming in the opposite direction. When Robbie learns the truth, he's certainly surprised, but is so in love with Cole that he immediately searches for a way to justify his fear and still find a way to stay with him.
Cole shouldn't be afraid though, because he and Robbie are now so intimately bound that nothing can tear them apart. Although this is a Young Adult book, it's certainly not a light read. This is a teenage love story with vampires and werewolves, but it's quite different than some other vampire love stories I've read. Jeff's writing is much better and the story is by no means silly or trite. He takes his subject very seriously. I especially like the way he provides clues by tying his characters together. It's a dark, sometimes frightening story about two boys from very different backgrounds, trying to find their way in a hostile environment, while fighting off deadly enemies on all sides.
It also addresses the issue of blind prejudice between the various groups involved, i. I'd recommend this book to both young people and adults because, besides being entertaining, there are life lessons to be found hidden within the fantasy of the story.
Thanks, Jeff, for an exhilarating read. I was loaned this book via a Kindle library loan from my uncle. The loan expired today before I could finish the book.
To be honest, it felt like a stay of execution, because I was forcing myself to read it. In fact, I think it is a good book for a YA reader, especially if they are a fan of gay romance and va I was loaned this book via a Kindle library loan from my uncle. In fact, I think it is a good book for a YA reader, especially if they are a fan of gay romance and vampires.
The book does have graphic sexual content, but I don't see anything wrong with a teen reader enjoying it. While it features vampires it stays on the lighter, romantic fantasy side of the genre far away from their horror genre roots. I could be a great read for fans of these kinds of stories, I'm just not that person. I did not enjoy this book on many levels. A lot of it boils down to very clumsy world building, cliched dialogue and storytelling, and very a unpolished narrative writing style that made portions of the book feel more like an outline of a story epic amounts of info dumping and telling verse showing.
A hard shake and the entire thing comes down like a house of cards. Too many things are going on, and many of them are poorly constructed and clumsily executed. The story would have been better off with most of these details being cut down or removed entirely from the story. Robbie is the typical shy, insecure ingenue we see in every romance be it gay or straight.
Likewise Colt is the standard issue leather-clad bad boy with a vampire upgrade. Add a heaping dose of 'insta-love' and we have the romance at the center of Forever Young. Cue me falling asleep. The only part of the story that did catch my interest was the storyline about the vampire hunters. Dylan and Issa friendship and tentative romance was surprisingly nuanced and compelling as hell. Their journey through training school was far more intriguing to me than the main story. Especially, when you look at how their journey thematically mimics the journey closeted kids in Conservative Christian communities and cults.
They begin to question the way they are raised, while dealing with their own personal identity and struggle to reconcile it all. Which is a very real, relatable young adult journey, that I found fascinating to read. I would have loved to read a book just about them. At the end of the day, I still think the book would appeal to readers interested in the gay version of the vampire romance fantasy. However, I would not recommend it for big fans of vampire lore or readers who want the strong world building. Or anyone who isn't interested in a tidy, unchallenging romantic stories.
How would you like to live for years in the body of a seventeen-year old body?
Book a party in the comfort of your own home and receive a discount for hosting! A new idea about vampires I liked the ideas this author has about what happens to survivors of vampire bites. Nov 23, Maraud3r rated it liked it. Jan 29, Larry Coppock rated it it was amazing. Your Name.
In Forever Young, Jeff Erno gives a different and slightly off the wall answer to this question. The blurb lays out the basics of the story and reading it for yourself will fill in the details of this quirky tale. This is basically a plot driven story with a plot that flows fairly smoothly, but does jump around occasionally. The story and characters are fairly standard, but do have some unique twists that make it interesting. I do like the part of what it would be like to be years old , but be stuck in the body of a 17 year old and the obstacles and limitations that would entail.
The sex is mostly hinted at off-page, but there is plenty of passion and tender cuddling. The vampire hunters do have some cool hi-tech weapons and defense techniques, but I don't like the fact that all they seem to be is a mob out to blindly kill anything paranormal. The author's writing style is quirky, simple, and concise. The story does have a HEA ending, but it does have a bittersweet twist.
I enjoyed reading this book, and if you're looking for a vampire tale with a quirky and humorous twist, then this is the one for you.
There were things I really liked about the book and things that I didn't. The characters were interesting - kind of Anne Rice style - and there was plenty of action making it an exciting read. This had an epilogue and some sort of resolution but it really needs a sequel or the ending should to be rewritten. Oct 01, Rick rated it really liked it. I received this book in a contest and here is my review.
I really liked shy, introverted Robbie. Then the hunky 17 year old leather jacket wearing Colt shows up at the grocery store where Robbie works one evening. Robbie is speechless that Colt gives him the time of day let alone want to spend time with him. The premise is different from many Vampire stories yet similar. I can't explain how but it is and I really enjoyed reading Forever Young and will pick up the next in the series as soon as it's I received this book in a contest and here is my review.
I can't explain how but it is and I really enjoyed reading Forever Young and will pick up the next in the series as soon as it's available. Good going Jeff Erno! This book is well written, the characters are well fleshed out and there are some very interesting plot twists to keep you on your toes. Highly recommend this book. You can read the rest of Jackie's review at The Novel Approach. I simply adored this book. Jeff Erno stepped out of his usual genre to write this vampire book and I think he did an amazing job.
I can't wait for the next one in the series. To read my entire review, check it out over at The Novel Approach. May 09, Lori rated it really liked it Shelves: bmbr-reads. I liked this offering right up until the last 20 or so pages and then it felt really rushed. Still I was very happy to see this author stretch a bit. Not bad, but the ending was sudden and left a lot in the open. And I am not so sure about the whole vampire thing But all in all, another great read by Erno.
Feb 29, Anna rated it liked it. Yeah, not for me. Way too much angst! Skipped around a lot. I love Vamp's, but not whiney Vamp's! Not interested in the rest. The Vampire hunters are just as whiney!
Esperava mais no entanto. Sep 14, Jeff rated it really liked it. Really good book!! I like Colt and Robbie, and they make a great couple and their journey is really interesting, thus far!!!! This was pretty good, maybe there will be a sequel. Jan rated it really liked it Jul 20, Michael rated it really liked it Sep 19, Daniel Pierce's first book was really, really good, but this one was a mixed bag.
It's the characters that drag it down. Our MC Jason has got to be the most unlikable character Ive read in a while. Everything he does seems to be done with the sole purpose to anger the audience. From having questions, that he doesn't ask or demand answers for, to crying he's a grown man, but allowing the girls to slap him around and order him about.
He throw hissyfits and at one point kicks a wall like a spoiled child. Even Tess's character isn't likable. The funny thing is that, Kamila who was told to be this uncooperative loner that no one liked, was the most normal and likeable one in the whole story. I will continue to follow where Jason's story goes.

Daniel Pierce entered the writing scene with a bang when he released his first book earlier this year, and now he has continued his success with this expertly crafted story. He has once again taken a tired genre and brought it back to life. Paranormal awesomeness is found within these pages and you'll feel compelled to keep reading as it's impossible to put down! I can't wait to see what's next for this incredible author. He's easily become one of my top favorites and an immediate one-click.
I'm really enjoying this author. I just finished his other series future reborn? This book started fast and ended fast with fast in between. It's well written, with a building intensity I hadn't expected - and it went in a direction I also hadn't expected I should finish a book in the daytime so I can write a decent review. Sorry for the lack of imagination. Good book. Well written. Well edited. A cut above the rest in this field.
But not really harem. And not really dark fantasy. Hence only four stars. Still very highly recommended. One of the best I've read in a long while. One person found this helpful. I enjoyed the interplay between the main characters. Some of the background was way too descriptive and it took away from the storyline.
I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. I wasn't sure what to think on this one when I first read the blurb, but since I've enjoyed the author's other work I thought I'd give it a shot. Plenty of action, plenty of hot women, and more of everything else you'll enjoy.
New take on vampires. MC is in a state not exactly a vampire but as a ferrin, someone who didn't die after being drained by a vampire. Looking forward to the next book. Not sure what is happening with the story, what is the reason, what is the cause, and what actually is happening.
